This past month I had the privilege of being invited to a residency in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. During my time there, I had the opportunity to connect with artists from both New York and Canada. It was a truly amazing experience to witness and learn about each artist's unique creative process. We engaged in meaningful discussions, exchanged ideas, and shared our findings.
After long hours of work we took breaks walking along the coastline surrounded by the vibrant colors of the ocean and the rocks filling the body with unpolluted land beauty and air.
Being in that environment brought to the fore the level of anxiety that the city carries within, although it may not be seen as a personal anxiety, there is a sense of dealing with it that was not present there. And at the same time observing the distractions and internal conditioning happening that are not a by product of external stimuli or situations.
Back in Brooklyn and with the prospect of an end becoming a beginning, I continue the work.
